Tactile invitation for online opening
In 2020 JW Marriott is opening their first hotel in Nara, Japan. With the premier celebration taking place online with a series of events, our brief was to create a special inspirational invitation brochure to ad a real tactile feel to the digital experience in times when travelling is canceled. We decided to create sensual invitation by using textured Japanese papers, calligraphy and photography to bring that tiny piece of Japan in to receiving hands. Never the less, even with a strong Japanese character, the brochure is a strong brand expression of the JW Marriott hotels. This project shows how graphic design can deliver meaningful experience during the lockdown.
